President of the Republic, General Michel Aoun, arrived in Baghdad on a two-day official visit to Iraq.
The President was welcomed at the airport by Iraqi Foreign Minister, Ibrahim Al-Jaafari, Head of the Mission of Honor, Iraqi Minister of Culture, Farid Mohammad Faki Rwanduzi and members of the Mission, as well as Lebanese Ambassador to Iraq, Ali Habhab, and Iraqi Ambassador to Lebanon, Ali Abbas Bandar Al-Amiri.
After the reception ceremony, the President and the accompanying delegation headed to the Iraqi Presidential Palace, the "Peace Palace", where President Aoun will hold bilateral talks with his Iraqi counterpart, followed by extensive talks between the Lebanese and Iraqi sides, a joint press conference and a launch banquet hosted by the Iraqi president in honor of his guests.
The Iraqi media, especially newspapers published today, tackled Aoun's state visit to Baghdad, stressing the importance of enhancing bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries and peoples at various levels, especially in the political, economic and security fields. They also underscored the need to expand the exchange of expertise and cooperation to confront terrorism.
