When mentioning Lebanon’s most notorious Roumieh prison, it comes to our minds the gloomy, chaotic image entrenched by the riotous events that have repeatedly taken place at the facility’s Bloc B as well as by several alarming NGOs’ reports.
Nonetheless, the luxurious aspect of life inside the Roumieh prison has yet to be disclosed, having one of the inmates (N.R.) as an ‘outrageous’ sample of what it is like to be a ‘guest’ at Lebanon’s largest confinement.
The ‘pampered’ inmate was keen on not missing his birthday while serving his sentence for drug trafficking at the Roumieh prison.
In fact, he ensures himself festive celebrations, smoking Cuban cigars, eating sushi and sizzling grills as well as many other delivery meals that he shares with his prison companions. Not to mention the shows and soap operas that he gets to watch on the large TV that has been installed just for him to get entertained when feeling bored inside his ‘spacious’ cell.
In case the ‘pampered’ inmate fails to find anything interesting on TV, he can instead enjoy the high-speed internet connection so as to keep following-up on his social life outside the prison. In fact, he never misses to change his Facebook account profile picture to keep a vivid mental image of himself.
