Public Health Minister, Jamil Jabak, vowed Saturday to find a way to support employees at Ehden Government Hospital at the first opportunity, and to ensure an operational sum for the hospital so it would remain functional.
Jabak's words came during his visit today to Ehden Governmental Hospital, where Transport and Public Works Minister, Youssef Fenianos, and MP's Estphan Doueihy and Tony Franjieh welcomed him.
Touring the hospital's various sections, Jabak expressed surprise at its small size and lack of facilities available to an area that caters for more than 35,000 citizens. "It is a modest hospital in every sense of the word and we will work to equip and develop it," Jabak reassured.
"The huge surprise I came across in this hospital is that the employees have not been paid their wages for about 15 months," he added regretfully. Jabak thanked the hospital staff for their patience and tolerance and for continuing to serve without pay until this day, while assuring them of working to find the right resources to support them at the first opportunity.
In turn, MP Franjieh thanked the Public Health Minister for his visit and concern for the region of Ehden that has been deprived of such attention in the past.
"It is the duty of the State and officials to continuously seek to secure such requirements, and we are very pleased with the presence of Minister Jabak today and are confident that the response will be for the good of the hospital and its staff and our people in Ehden," Franjiieh affirmed.
