Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea on Thursday said that the protests and riots that had been recently witnessed in some Palestinian refugee camps had nothing to do with Labor Minister Kamil Abou Sleiman's decision to regulate employment in Lebanon in general, including Palestinian labor.
“The Labor Minister has taken into consideration Palestinian workers and employers and their relevant labor laws in Lebanon, and he has provided them with all the possible facilitations permitted by the law,” Geagea explained.
He went on to dismiss the Palestinian reaction to the labor law as strictly political.
"Some of the Palestinian parties, such as Hamas, and other Lebanese parties, such as Hezbollah, have been misinterpreting the Labor Minister’s decisions to the Palestinian street in a bid to gain their support in the conflict between Hamas and it’s Lebanese allies on the one hand, and the Palestinian authorities on the other,” Geagea added.
He finally thanked the Palestinian Authorities, especially President Mahmoud Abbas, for his honorable position. He called on all the Palestinian brothers present on Lebanese territories not to “fall for such rumors that deliberately distort the decision of the Minister,” which better organizes and serves their work conditions.
