Mufti of the Republic Sheikh Abdullatif Derian received on Tuesday at Dar al-Fatwa Information Minister Manal Abdel Samad.
After the meeting Abdel Samad said: "Our visit to the Mufti came to thank him and thank all the clergy for their patriotic stances and their sober and moderate speech that calls for love and non-discrimination, especially now that we need it most to continue facing all the obstacles that the country is going through in the hope that things will improve over time."
"We are all partners in the homeland and we can push it towards a better life and social stability," she added.
Asked about the fear of the return of the revolution to the streets, the minister stressed that "in the context of the demands, there is no doubt that we are keen to achieve this because we are part of this country."
Commenting on some calls to a founding conference and the cancellation of the Taif agreement, she said: "This matter has not been discussed at the present time, and the sectarian balances must be respected in administrative positions so that we can agree on a unified map to ensure coexistence for all and live in dignity."
She concluded by saying: "The government is committed to the Taif Agreement and we stand in this line."
