Lebanese Army Chief General Joseph Aoun said on Friday that security is stable in Lebanon thanks to the awareness of the Lebanese people and their support to their army in all its confrontations.
Speaking from Melbourne, the last leg in his Australian tour where the Lebanese residing expatriate community honored him, Aoun urged emigrants to visit their country and not to be affected by false rumors.
Organized by Head of the Lebanese-Australian Chamber of Trade and Commerce Fadi Zouki, the honoring ceremony took place under the patronage of Lebanese Consul in Victoria Ziad Itani, in the presence of a large crowd of Lebanese expatriates who stood a moment of silence in memory of Lebanese and Australian army martyrs.
"Despite the volatile situation in the region, our nation is still the safest security-wise due to the vigilance of the military institution and the rest of the security forces," stated Aoun.
"Lebanon is authenticity, faith and sects, not sectarianism...Lebanon, the homeland, is not geography and history, but rather it is the Cedar, the stance and faith," added the Army Chief.
Aoun thanked Lebanese expatriates in Australia for their aid and support to the military institution, stressing that "our main weapon is the solidarity of the Lebanese in all our battles."
