Prime Minister Saad Hariri received Sunday a call from the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, during which they discussed the latest Lebanese and regional developments.
Pompeo stressed the need to avoid any escalation and to work with all concerned parties to prevent any form of deterioration.
For his part, Hariri expressed Lebanon's commitment to the obligations of international resolutions, especially resolution 1701. He stressed the dangers of the continuous Israeli violations of this resolution and of Lebanese sovereignty, and the need to work to stop these violations.
Hariri thanked Pompeo for his call, adding that the Lebanese side will exert all efforts toward restraint and easing the tension.
