During the announcement of the "Educational Charter" in Bkerki on Wednesday, Maronite Patriarch Bechara Boutros Rahi stressed that the said charter "aims to preserve the identity of Lebanon, which leads to meeting the demands of the people, activating the revolution and protecting its goals."
"The Charter aims to encourage our Lebanese youth to build a better homeland, which is Lebanon, our common home; a civil state that separates religion from state affairs," he said.
Rahi stressed that "the revolution launched by a number of citizens started as completely spontaneous. They stood unified, under the banner of Lebanon, in their rightful national demands. This revolution requires a continuous process in order not to drop its torch, and the Church supports it."
He believed that "any authority derives its existence from its legitimacy, but derives its permanence from its success with its people and for its people. The Lebanese people seek a successful authority, and we must not disappoint it."
