The Ministry of Labor announced in a statement on Thursday the launch of a two-week inspection campaign on all Lebanese territory, calling on institutions and companies to adhere to the restricted professions list and the Lebanese to foreign labor ratios.
The Ministry's statement read:
"In order to protect the Lebanese workforce and maintain the permanence of work within companies and institutions, especially in these exceptional and difficult circumstances, the Ministry of Labor affirms the following:
1- Soliciting all institutions and companies operating on Lebanese territory to abide by the application of the provisions of legal texts related to the professions that are restricted to the Lebanese, as per the laws in force.
2- Adherence to the percentages of foreign workforce as issued by the Ministry of Labor.
The Ministry also announces the launch of a large-scale inspection campaign, two weeks from the date of the issuance of this notice. The campaign will cover all Lebanese territories, to ensure compliance with the abovementioned points, and has been previously stated regarding violations thereto, and to take legal measures against noncomplying parties, which may come as far as shutting down the violating institution."
