Families of port explosion victims rally outside Justice Palace in Beirut

Families of the victims of Beirut port explosion carried out on Friday a sit-in in front of the Justice Palace in Beirut, holding pictures of the blast victims and brandishing banners denouncing the political authority, as part of a series of moves that they promised to implement, in rejection of the decision to transfer the investigation from Judge Fadi Sawan to another judge and in condemnation of any delay in the investigation file.

The road in front of the Justice Palace was blocked with barriers.

Delivered words by activists and victims’ families deemed the recent Court of Cassation’s decision as a prelude to obliterating the features of the port blast crime, and denounced the court’s decision to remove Judge Sawan.

Delivered words also refused all attempts to bring the investigation back to ground zero, underlining the need to uncover the truth.
