Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib welcomed on Thursday his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir Abdollahian, with whom he discussed the bilateral relations between Lebanon and Iran.
"I am pleased to welcome the Foreign Minister of the friendly country of Iran. We have discussed the ties between our countries and the intention to develop them," Bou Habib said following the meeting.
"We are aware that the regional ties are important for our small country. Therefore, we wish success for the negotiations held by Iran, whether with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia or the P5+1 in Vienna, as the success of these talks will reflect positively on Lebanon," he added.
For his part, the Iranian Minister indicated that the meeting with Bou Habib was "positive" and "constructive."
"The Islamic Republic of Iran considered Lebanon a brotherly and friendly country as well as a partner in this region. We are fully ready to offer all sorts of support to Lebanon," he said.
Furthermore, he stressed that the Iranian companies are ready to build two power plants in Beirut and the south in less than 18 months.
He added that Iran was also ready to immediately contribute to the reconstruction of Beirut port.
