Jurists following up on the Beirut port investigation revealed that Judge Habib Mezher did not issue a decision to prevent Judge Tarek Bitar from doing his part. They were surprised by the campaign against him, especially since some of those who launched the campaign are supposed to know the laws and administrative measures.
The sources informed MTV of the following: "While examining the response file assigned to Judge Mezher, the registry was asked to include the response file submitted against Bitar, which is registered as No. 69 for review, in preparation for the issuing a decision in the case. It is a proper and necessary legal procedure to find out if there are violations in the file, and to clarify the issue to the litigants and inform them of the papers, in accordance with the rules and pursuant to the explicit and applicable legal text, including Bitar."
The sources concluded: "Judge Mezher took a proper legal measure, and it seems that the judge has no right to implement the law."
