President of the Republic, General Michel Aoun, stressed on Tuesday the depth of the ties between Lebanon and China, praising China's support for Lebanon's sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity, and its permanent support for its just causes in international forums.

In a message addressed to Chinese President, Xi Jinping, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, President Aoun asserted that Lebanon is looking forward to "China's steadfastness in its support for our country amid the challenges it faces as a result of the severe economic crisis that our country is going through and the Lebanese people are suffering from”.

Following is President Aoun's full message:

"Honorable President Xi Jinping,

President of the People's Republic of China,

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations with your friendly countries, and what this phase witnessed from constructive cooperation between our two countries at the political, economic, cultural, and other levels, I extend to you, your government and the friendly Chinese people, my heartfelt congratulations, stressing Lebanon’s aspiration to strengthen its bilateral relations with the People's Republic of China in all fields which enhance the common interests of our two countries. Relations which are consistent with the principles and foundations of mutual respect between them.

During the past five decades, Lebanon has seen China's support for our country's sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, and its constant support in international forums to support its just causes.

At this stage in the history of our joint relations, we look forward to China's steadfastness in its support for our country amid the challenges it faces, as a result of the severe economic crisis that our country is going through, and from which the Lebanese people are suffering, especially appreciating your kind gesture towards our people following the spread of the Covid-19 in the past two years.

The economic growth of your country, which has made it one of the most important economic powers in the world, constitutes a model for development based on human and natural resources, which prompts us to explore various ways that allow to advance trade exchange between us in the official and private sectors.

Therefore, in this message, I can only express my country's pride in the solid ties it has with the People's Republic of China, and I wish you continued success in caring for your country, prosperity and tranquility for your people.
