The Lebanese Ministry of Information issued the following statement on Monday:
"Websites and social media platforms have been circulating fabricated statements attributed to Information Minister George Kordahi, the latest of which was today, where promoters claimed that it was directed by Kordahi to Prime Minister Najib Mikati to protest against attempts to force him to resign.
The alleged statement, bearing a forged signature of the Information Minister, included a fabricated claim that investigations showed that some employees leaked secret letters and decisions taken by the Minister to manage the media crisis, that the Ministry would punish the employees who were proven to be involved, and that the Minister decided to restructure the Ministry of Information.
The Lebanese Ministry of Information reiterates that the aforementioned statement is completely false and untrue and points out that any statement or position attributed to the Minister is not true unless it was issued by the official websites of the National News Agency or the Ministry of Information."
