Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri on Thursday received at the Second Presidency in Ain el-Tineh, Minister of Youth and Sports George Kallas, who presented the Ministry’s work vision for the coming period, which is based on the completion of a modern and advanced law for the Ministry’s structure.
Minister Kallas also briefed the Speaker on the decision of the Arab League to declare "Beirut the capital of Arab youth 2022" and the Arab Scout Conference, which Lebanon will host in 2022.
For his part, Speaker Berri reiterated the importance of the youth and their role in this current crisis, and the encouragement of complementarity between the Lebanese and Arab youth. He also expressed his happiness with the two Arab youth and scout events that Lebanon will be hosting in 2022, deeming these two events as a manifestation of Arab confidence in Lebanon.
On the other hand, Speaker Berri received Lebanon’s ambassadors to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Fawzi Kabbara, and the Kingdom of Bahrain Milad Nammour. .
Berri later met with Minister of National Defense, Maurice Sleem, with whom he discussed the general situation and the latest political and security developments.
This afternoon, Berri met with Minister of Industry, George Bushkian, over the general situation and affairs related to the national industry.
On the other hand, on the occasion of Lebanon’s Independence Day, Berri received congratulatory cables from Canadian Senate Speaker, George Furey, and Speaker of the House of Commons, Anthony Rota, in which they stressed the close ties between the Lebanese and Canadian parliaments.
