Italian defense minister: we can't allow Syria to explode

In the aftermath of the EU's decision to lift arms embargo on Syria, Italian Defense Minister, Mario Mauro said he was "totally against any form of intervention or complication of the Syrian crisis out of the framework of mandate from the international institutions, particularly the UN."

"This is my message to my partners and beyond because we can't allow Syria to explode", he said.

Speaking to "New Europe", Mauro noted that he will be visiting Italy's UNIFIL troops in Lebanon soon.
