Hariri, Saqr Could Face Death Penalty!

In the framework of the persisting confrontation with March 14 alliance and forces shoring up the Syrian revolution, the Syrian Bar Association formed a committee tasked with examining lawsuits pertaining to terrorism that has been battering the Syrian republic.

In an interview with the Syrian "Al Baath" newspaper, the head of the committee, lawyer Hazem Al Jazzar, noted that it has started to draft lawsuits against all those who are proven involved in causing damages, whether material or immaterial, to public interests and institutions.

Jazzar also revealed that around 8000 lawsuits pertaining to terrorism charges have been lodged, as the court has so far issued 20 search warrants.

Noting that the committee has represented the Syrian Republic before the criminal court for terrorism, Jazzar pointed out that the first investigating magistrate in Damascus is examining a lawsuit that has been filed by the Syrian Arab Republic against Al Mustaqbal leader MP Saad Hariri, MP Oqab Saqr and the Free Syrian Army's spokesman Louay Al Mekdad.

"The lawsuit encloses seven criminal charges which could lead to the death penalty," Jazzar said.

The Syrian court has ordered a specialized investigation into audio recordings, implicating both Saqr and Al Meqdad in the transfer of arms to Syria, to prove their authenticity before being used as a key evidence in the lawsuit.

Moreover, Jazzar revealed that the head of Aleppo's Insdustry Chamber, Fares Al Shahabi, lodged a lawsuit before Strasbourg's court against both Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyeb Erdogan and Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu. Jazzar noted that a petition is being drafted to lodge a claim demanding the two aforementioned officials "to compensate for the damages caused by their funding and instigation of terrorists to vandalize public properties."
