Embassy of Iran deplores assassination of Ghieh
The Iranian Embassy in Lebanon vehemently condemned on Wednesday the assassination of Sheikh Saad El-Deen Ghieh in the Northern city of Tripoli yesterday.

Two attackers opened fire at Sheik Ghieh's car as he was driving by in Tripoli, 85 kilometers (53 miles) north of Beirut. Ghieh was taken to hospital and died shortly afterward.

"The Iranian Embassy fervently deplores this criminal act which only serves Lebanon's enemies, not to mention Zionist schemes in the region," a statement by the Embassy read.
