Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) is not only deemed to unveil the truth, however it has become a sample for the international justice in the eyes of legal experts and the international community and that's for various reasons.
STL is the first to be established for a terrorist crime, since previous tribunals were erected for war crimes, genocide and crimes against humanity. Hence from now on, it will be a reference on how the international justice would deal with terrorist cases.
Moreover, STL is characterized by holding its trials in absentia, because no international tribunal has ever allowed such strategy, which blocked its path for years.
Experts estimate that trials will be held in absentia for at least two years ahead.
They are expecting many surprises as they consider that its moral outcome will have high value.
However, this tribunal will be considered as a platform for justice on the international level mainly in the regard of terrorism which Lebanon has been suffering since ever.
