President Michel Sleiman said Thursday that distancing Lebanon from the Syrian crisis can only be done by ending local parties' interference in the neighboring country's internal affairs.
In a statement issued by the Baabda Palace, Sleiman stressed the need for adopting the dissociation policy, noting that this can be brought into effect by not taking part in the fighting there "no matter what the justification is."
The president also renewed call for a political solution that would restore stability and security in Syria and contribute to returning the refugees back to their homeland.
Sleiman hoped that Syria peace talks taking place in Montreux would end the crisis.
