A lot of complaints have been surfacing regarding Syrian workers while most factory and institution owners disagree.
Those affected are complaining over the scarcity of Lebanese workers and the high price that adds to their overall expenseos, mainly led by electric bills.
The owners of such businesses are calling on people to differentiate between good Syrians and bad Syrians, noting that many of them come to Lebanon to work and are in no way involved in politics.
They also called on distancing the workers from their country’s crisis and its repercussions on Lebanon, noting that this country can in no way let go of Syrian labor.
In a surprising turn of events, following a series of raids on the homes of displaced Syrians and arrests in several areas, alongside the harassment that they are suffering from in certain places, workers of the said nationality have been communicating on Whats’App and preparing a potential response:
“Great Syrians, Let us be one hand to tell the world that we are united for the defense of our brothers who are being beaten and insulted by the Lebanese. We declare Monday 15/09/2014 as a day of strike and home confinement. Let us boycott Supermarkets, buses and dealing with any Lebanese so they can understand the value of Syrians….”
So, will the Syrians abide by this call on go on strike? Will they obstruct the work of factories, institutions and construction sites? We will have to wait and see.
