Hizbullah Chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah had already declared MP Michel Aoun as his one and only presidential candidate, while his advisor Hussein Khalil stated from Rabieh few days ago that the party backs Aoun or any other candidate holding the same qualities, to finally announce that the party supports Aoun until further notice.

Sources close to the March 8 coalition stated that Hizbullah's latest stances are aimed at finding another candidate capable of reaching Baabda Palace, since it is now clear that Aoun’s road to the presidential seat is blocked by March 14’s rejection of his candidacy as well as the foreign veto of Saudi Arabia.

The same source pointed out that Hizbullah's reiteration of support to Aoun is considered as an introduction to an agreement on a consensual candidate approved by the latter himself.

Iif the party was refraining from publicly voicing its support Aoun few months ago, what has changed now?

Elaborating analysis blocks the ability to answer the following crucial question: Does Hizbullah want to elect a president or it prefers the void? And is the party ready to reach an agreement with Future Movement through holding a dialogue, whereby both parties' intentions shall be clear?

It is still too early to answer this question.

But it is certain now that the new year will enter while no president in the palace, and it is also certain that amid the regional wars, none of the fighting axes will win, then the only solution relies in electing a compromise candidate, otherwise the void will remain forever.
