Spokesperson for the families of captive servicemen, Hussein Youssef, said that contacts have been restored with the Nusra Front, revealing that there was a possibility that one of the hostages would be freed in a matter of days.
Youssef told The Daily Star that the fact that the recent visit made by Hamza Hommos to the hostages "marked the first instance of communication with the Nusra Front".
According to the spokesperson, the government is in contact with both ISIS and the Nusra Front.
Arsal Deputy Mayor Ahmad Fliti is negotiating with ISIS, he said, while "secret and unannounced mediators" have been tasked to communicate with the Nusra Front.
Youssef also cited reports relayed to the families by mediators and the ministerial crisis cell, assuring that negotiations were on the right track.
“There are tangible developments and the Lebanese will be aware of them in a matter of days,” Youssef said.
