Annahar daily has learned Wednesday that General Security Chief Abbas Ibrahim informed the families of abducted servicemen in Arsal that the government exerted all efforts to put term for their crisis, noting that positive atmosphere was overwhelming the negotiations mainly after that the cabinet had approved the swap of 40 Islamist prisoners in Roumieh jail with the servicemen.
While it was reported that the abductors requested $1 million in return for each servicemen, and a country will pledge the amount, the Lebanese end was surprised when they also asked to swap the prisoners with the bodies of Lebanese army martyrs executed by both groups.
Hence, the negotiations were suspended, while waiting to be resumed through the new mediators with the support of old ones.
The families of abducted servicemen postponed their escalatory protest yesterday, pointing out that the negotiations are on the right track under the sponsorship of Turkey and Qatar.
