Labor Minister Sejaan Azzi met with the US ambassador, David Hale, upon the latter’s request and in which he reiterated US’ keenness on preserving Lebanon’ stability in order to facilitate the elections of a new president.
“The US administration is looking forward to the presidential elections so that it continues its financial, economic, social and military support of Lebanon," he said.
Asked about the next Cabinet session, Azzi expected regular talks to go underway provided that a political will is present to generate sound solutions.
“The session will likely take a normal course given that solutions are available to each of the trash management crisis, the appointments’ issue, and the government’s mechanism," he noted.
Azzi stressed that the trash export plan can only be considered as a provisional step so as to defuse the crisis while administering sound and sustainable solutions.
As to the work mechanism of the government, he argued that an agreement can only be reached through consensus and that vote cannot presently be conducted due to the presidential vacuum.
