UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon Sigrid Kaag said Monday that Lebanese officials are namely responsible for political and economic as well as other issues, pointing out that long-term ties between Lebanon and neighboring countries such as Iran, Saudi Arabia and Egypt could play a positive role in resolving certain cases.
In an interview with IRNA, Kaag stressed that the international community hopes that Lebanese presidential deadlock would be resolved, as the UN and all international support groups are following up on this matter.
"UN and other international support groups are constantly calling for showing flexibility in dealing with the presidential crisis," Kaag added.
The UN official also praised Iran's FM Mohamad Javad Zarif call for dialogue in the region.
