The United States carried out a military strike with regional partners against al Shabaab in Somalia on Sunday in response to recent actions by the militant group, the Department of Defense said.

 

The al Qaeda-linked militant group attacked a military base on Thursday in Somalia's semi-autonomous Puntland region, killing 59, a Somali military officer said on Saturday.
