Head of the Lebanese-Swiss Parliamentary Friendship Committee, MP Anwar Khalil, received on Wednesday at his office in Koreitem the Ambassador of Switzerland, Monika Kirgoz, and discussed with her the relations between the two countries, especially at the parliamentary level.
In the wake of the meeting, Ambassador Kirgoz stressed that "discussions dealt with the excellent parliamentary relations between the two countries."
Tackling the issue of Syrian refugees in Lebanon, the ambassador said "this is a big problem for Lebanon and it can no longer be tolerated."
"The international community must look at what this [huge number of displaced persons] means for this small country," she went on.
The Swiss ambassador assured that her country has provided substantial assistance over the issue of displacement.
"This year it has provided about 80 million dollars in assistance not only to the displaced Syrians but also to the host Lebanese communities," she said, assuring that Switzerland will continue to support Lebanon in the future.
