MP Ammar Houry said on Friday that the adoption of the state budget was a step in the right direction.
"Although most of the budget has been consumed due to the fact that we are towards the end of 2017, but this budget is in fact a foundation for the budget of 2018," Houry said during an interview, hoping that this step would put matters within the frame of enhanced financial regulations.
"The current government has completed many files, starting with the electoral law, the formations, the budget, and so on. It is normal to face a clash of views over some issues, but it is shameful to insult Prime Minister Saad Hariri who has been striving for the country's best interest," the lawmaker added.
In response to a question, Houry stressed that holding parliamentary elections on schedule in May was inevitable.
"The government will spare no effort to overcome all the technical obstacles that may arise," he added.
