"I support Michel Kanbour and I'm against the arrest of any journalist," Minister of Information Melhem Riachy, said via twitter on Friday.
He called on the judiciary not to resort to prison sentences in cases related to print media.
"I call on the Prime Minister and Lebanese President to sign the draft law of the new editors' syndicate in a bid to implement it and provide real protection for the media," Riachy's tweet added.
