A number of residents of the town of Bisri and the surrounding area held a sit-in on Sunday at the banks of the Bisri River, called for by "Ardna" Association and the residents of the Marj Bisri basin in protest against the construction of the Bisri Dam Project.
There were several words by environmental engineers in condemnation of the project, deeming it one of "destruction, displacement and impoverishment."
They also pointed to the "threat of renewed earthquakes on the fault existing in the region, and therefore the risk of a tsunami in the wake of building the dam."
