The Parliament elected seven lawmakers to be members of the supreme council to try presidents and ministers, in a legislative session Wednesday that shall resume at 6:00 pm.
The elected members are MPs George Okeis, Ali Ammar, Faisal Sayegh, George Atallah, Samir Jisr, Hagob Pakradounian and Elias Hankash.
It is to note that Hankash won by acclamation after lawmakers Albert Mansour, Paula Yaacoubian and Ali Darwich withdrew their candidacy.
For their part, MPs Roula Tabsh, Salim Aoun and Ali Osseiran were elected reserve members.
House Speaker, Nabih Berri, demanded to postpone the appointment of the council's judges, calling to reconsider their nomination without taking into account their religious and sectarian affiliation.
Berri tasked the Minister of Justice to supervise the appointment process.
