In a communiqué issued by the Lebanese Army on Wednesday, it categorically denied recently circulated news about its checkpoint in al-Awali region coming under fire by unknown perpetrators which led to the death of an officer a few days ago.
"The Army's leadership command totally denies this information, urging the media and social networking sites not to publish any news related to the military institution unless confirmed by the competent military references," the Army statement emphasized.
