The Presidency of the Lebanese Republic on Tuesday called not to misinterpret President Michel Aoun's remarks on the national defense strategy made to journalists at Beitedidne Palace yesterday.

"President Michel Aoun's remarks on the defense strategy were a description to the reality that occurred ten years after broaching this issue during the national dialogue sessions, especially the military developments witnessed in the Lebanese neighborhood for the past years and which necessitate a new approach the defense strategy," the presidency's press office said in the statement.

"The Presidency's press office, as it confirms that the President is committed to the stances he had previously announced regarding the defense strategy and the importance of discussing it in a climate of consent, also calls not to misinterpret the President's statements and recommends to refer to the official texts issued by the Presidency of the Republic in terms of the President's stances," the statement read.
