President Michel Aoun on Tuesday welcomed member of the "French Academy", Ambassador Daniel Rondo, who is currently on a visit to Beirut to attend a "heritage" themed scientific conference at Saint Joseph University.
The pair discussed Lebanese-French relations, after which Aoun congratulated Rondo on his election as member of the French Academy and bestowed upon him a National Cedar Medal of a Commander's rank in recognition of his relentless efforts to bolster Lebanese-French relations.
In turn, Rondo expressed his desire to "deepen cooperation with Lebanon," after his election as member of the French Academy. He also invited the President to attend his official admission to the Academy in May 2020.
President Aoun later welcomed President of the Institute of Social, Economic, and Political Sciences of Lyon, Marion Maréchal-Le Pen.
Le Pen briefed President Aoun on the purpose of her visit, which is to discuss cooperation with major universities in Lebanon and to exchange expertise and knowledge.
Le Pen also congratulated Aoun on the UN's approval of his initiative to establish a Human Academy, placing the services of the institute which she heads at the disposal of the staff of the new academy.
