MP Ali Bazzi said Wednesday that Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri was wondering what had become of the 2020 state budget, especially that the government and the concerned ministerial committees had held multiple meetings.
Speaking to reporters following Wednesday’s weekly gathering, the lawmaker quoted Berri as describing sectarianism as "the poison and protector of the system at once."
He added that the Speaker tackled the vote mode under which the recent legislative polls took place.
"[Berri] said that this mode was a miniature of the Orthodox election law, and that we are today living its negative reverberations," Bazzi said.
He also highlighted the importance of the election law proposal made by the Liberation and Development parliamentary bloc.
"The proposal is full and complete, and it is also negotiable," Berri said.
Moreover, the Speaker stressed the necessity to respect the state-to-state relations.
