Former Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, contacted on Saturday Army Commander, Joseph Aoun, calling on him to "protect the peaceful movements, following the shooting at demonstrators in the Beddawi area and the injuries that occurred this afternoon.”
It was agreed with the Army Commander to "conduct a transparent investigation into the reasons that led to the shooting and holding the perpetrators accountable," while stressing “the need to peacefully deal with sit-ins in all areas, and not to engage the army in confrontations with its people."
