A Mass service was held Sunday at the Church of Saint Wartan in Bourj Hammoud, devoted to praying for peace in Lebanon, presided over by the Armenian Orthodox Archbishop Narik Alemizian.
Armenian Ambassador Vahkin Atabekian, MP Hagop Terzian, representatives of Armenian parties, scouts, social and sports associations and a crowd of believers attended the Mass.
“We are meeting today to pray on the intent of our homeland Lebanon, and for peace to prevail in the country,” Archbishop Alemizian said in his sermon.
“With this prayer, we also reaffirm the Church's support for the demands of the people, and the need to stay away from violence and secure the needs of citizens as soon as possible,” he added.
“The Christian faith is based on establishing peace in society, and we call on all the people of the country to maintain social cooperation, solidarity and coexistence for a vibrant Lebanon," the Armenian Archbishop underscored.
