President Michel Aoun received Sunday afternoon congratulatory letters from his Russian and Chinese counterparts, on the occasion of Lebanon's 76th Independence Day.
In his letter, Putin said that "the Russian-Lebanese diplomatic relations have always been friendly and constructive."
He added: "The Russian-Lebanese diplomatic relations, the 75th anniversary of which we celebrated this year, have always been constructive. I am convinced that our joint efforts will continue to develop our bilateral cooperation in various fields."
He also reiterated Russia's continued support for Lebanon's sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.
For his part, Chinese President Xi Jinping, stressed that "China and Lebanon have been friendly countries for a long time, and China has always supported Lebanon's efforts to safeguard state sovereignty, maintain social stability and push for advanced economic development."
He added: "I attach great importance to the development of the Chinese-Lebanese bilateral relations, and I am ready to work with His Excellency to push the cooperation between China and Lebanon to a higher level, for the benefit of both countries and peoples."
