"We have warned over and over again that we will reach a stage in Lebanon when hospitals will not be able to receive patients due to lack of liquidity," Lebanese Hospitals' Syndicate Chief, Suleiman Haroun, said in a press conference on Friday.
Meanwhile, the hospitals' syndicate warned that the available stock at hospitals was enough for one month only, sounding the alarm on a looming disaster if the situation is not remedied immediately.
"We may witness the death of patients inside hospitals as a result of shortage of medical supplies," the syndicate warned.
Moreover, Haroun implored banks to facilitate the transfer of USD to help purchase the much-needed medical supplies, warning that "otherwise, hospitals will stop receiving patients next Friday, except for emergencies."
