Donald Trump has claimed 99 per cent of US coronavirus cases are "totally harmless" as he repeated to his widely-disputed argument on Saturday that his country's high number of infections was due to widespread testing.
"Now we have tested almost 40 million people. By so doing, we show cases, 99 per cent of which are totally harmless," the president said during a divisive speech to mark Independence Day.
It came as musician Kanye West announced a surprise presidential campaign for the 2020 election yesterday, suggesting his administration would help "realise the promise of America".
