I Know Guac Is Extra
According to a study conducted by the online dating site Zoosk, there's an easy way to punch up your profile. The key to ushering in masses of interested suitors isn't your artful selfie or clever name pun; it's all about food. And we're not talking about the eggplant emoji.
The researchers analyzed 3,733,185 dating profiles and 364,609,566 first messages to look at how mentioning different foods and food-related phrases affects online daters' interactions. They found that guac is the number one secret sauce: Mentioning guacamole in your dating profile could get you a 144 percent increase in messages. The next foods on the list, potatoes and chocolate, could earn you 101 and 100 percent more messages, respectively. Here's more; take notes:
- Guacamole: 144 percent
- Potatoes: 101 percent

Hold the Yams, Ma'am
Warning: Mentioning just any food is not going to win you points on your profile. According to the survey, referencing certain foods could also prevent otherwise interested daters from messaging you, too. The worst food to mention in your profile, reportedly, is yams. The tuber shoutout will get you 70 percent decrease in inbound messages. Shrug. Next up is fried chicken, which will decrease your incoming messages by 15 percent. And, for the love of god, avoid mentioning those fried yams you love too, just to be safe.
