A state of calm prevails along Ring Bridge in downtown Beirut after tensions rose for a while as an armed security unit arrived to the scene to provide back-up to the Internal Security Forces members who were hit by stones and firecrackers.
In this connection, ISF announced that the riot police were subjected to "attacks and throwing of stones and firecrackers by some individuals," demanding "an end to these attacks in order to avoid the adoption of stricter measures."
The efforts of the residents of the area with the young men succeeded in persuading them to retreat, so that calm would prevail. A mosque preacher within the vicinity had also called on the young men, via a loudspeaker, to vacate the street and return to their homes.
