Caretaker Water and Energy Minister, Nada Boustani, on Friday announced during a press conference held at the Ministry that she had signed a decree instructing oil facilities to import household gas to Lebanon.
"The household gas importation rate will be at least 35%," Minister Boustani said during the press conference, adding that the process shall take four months.
Boustani also pointed out that "the decision taken today is part of a coherent plan for this sector," adding "had it not been for our step to import gasoline, a crisis would have occurred in the past weeks, and therefore this decision is strategic for the state."
She stressed that "the importation of gas will be carried out through competitive bidding, as is the case for gasoline and diesel, and that all eligible companies can participate."
