Lebanese Army Commander, General Joseph Aoun, on Friday accompanied Prime Minister Hassan Diab on his visit to the eastern and northeastern borders, where they inspected the deployed military troops and the enforced procedures to control smuggling operations.
General Aoun headed next to the headquarters of the Command of the Third Brigade in West Bekaa and that of the Sixth Intervention Regiment in Riaq.
In his address to officers and soldiers, General Aoun said that despite the current economic hardships in Lebanon, civil peace remains a priority for the army.
"We shall not allow anybody to tamper with security and stability," he stressed.
"The military's first and last concern is the country's security," he added.
