A large explosion ripped through the Lebanese capital Beirut on Tuesday, causing deaths and injuries as well as shattering windows in buildings across the city. The source of the explosion was a major fire at a warehouse for firecrackers near the Port of Beirut.
There are at least 6 bodies inside the port and there is a strong unpleasant smell of diesel in the area.
Kataeb's Secretary-General Nazar Najarian has been injured due to the explosion, and he was transferred to Hotel Dieu Hospital.
Sources say that a number of Port of Beirut employees have lost contact.
As for material damage, the EDL building has been completely damaged and a wheat grain silo has partially collapsed.
