Vice Prime Minister, Caretaker National Defense Minister, Zeina Akar, on Friday paid an inspection visit to a number of army units, brigades, and regiments located in the north of Lebanon.
The Minister was briefed by officers in charge on the aforementioned units’ general condition, as well on the tasks that they carry out.
Akar also visited the military operation rooms, where she followed up on the progress of security and military plans.
The Minister of Defense then gave a speech in which she stressed the importance of hard work to overcome the current stage.
“The army has proven to be up to the responsibility entrusted to it; it has carried out all the tasks entrusted to it to the fullest, the most important of which thwarting terrorist plots, preserving security, protecting citizens during demonstrations, and standing in the way of sedition projects, let alone attempt to strike the country stability,” Akar said.
“The army will remain the safety valve of Lebanon and its people, and it will confront all attempts to tamper with its security and stability," she added, wishing of all to abide by the measures in force to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
