“Situation is bad,” regrets Hashem

Member of Development and Liberation parliamentary bloc, MP Kassem Hashem, deemed on Sunday the prevailing situation in the country as “dire” at the political, economic and financial levels, which is reflected in the daily lives of the Lebanese.

“The sufferings and fears of Lebanese citizens for the approaching days are increasing, with no hope for a near solution to the government's dilemma, which is the gateway to the awaited solution to the accumulated crises, especially with the ongoing political debate and the high-pitched, tense rhetoric," he said.

In a statement from Shebaa this morning, Hashem denounced the vocabulary of division and separation currently dominating in the country, calling for adopting a calm and uniting language instead; one that eliminates distances and brings various sides closer, “putting an end to the charged atmosphere that only serves to raise the tension that drags the state to complete collapse and total devastation.”

Touching on the government-decreed total lockdown imposed by the strenuous health conditions, Hashem considered that “the government and concerned parties must accord special attention to half of the Lebanese population, particularly since most of them are below the poverty line due to the complex circumstances.” Hence, he urged the state to launch an exceptional emergency plan to help needy and underprivileged families that have become without work and with no means for sustenance.

“All of this requires an effective and capable government, and here lies the responsibility of those concerned to accelerate the formation of a rescue cabinet…a government of statesmen who are responsible and able to address the crisis based on the sole interests of Lebanon and the Lebanese,” the MP underscored.
