Member of the Strong Republic Parliamentary Bloc, MP Pierre Bou Assi, stressed on Sunday that "the Free Patriotic Movement Head, MP Gebran Bassil, is a great burden on his allies as well as on Lebanon," noting that "his equation is based on covering Hezbollah's weapons in return for covering his policies and personal demands.”
He stressed that "the obstacle in Lebanon lies in failing to anticipate problems before they occur and not taking the right decision in a timely manner."
Speaking in an interview, Bou Assi deemed that "the delay is fatal, and there is a real problem with the country's leadership in terms of methodology and performance, the lack of coherence of institutions and the separation of powers with cooperation among them,” underlining that “the most important problem is the loss of vision."
“The key is to have the right reaction at the right time," he reiterated.
Touching on the actions in the street, Bou Assi denounced "any live shooting at demonstrators or citizens," considering it a “crime” and “the perpetrator must be prosecuted before the judiciary," calling for "the speedy arrest of those who used weapons against the people in Tripoli."
He believed that "there are many dimensions that led to the crisis in Lebanon, but the bulk of it falls on the shoulders of the ruling political class," adding, "Of course, the current government is not responsible for all the crises, but the way it addressed them exacerbated matters and led to a larger crisis."
