Prime Minister Najib Mikati met Tuesday at the Grand Serail with European Union's Ambassador to Lebanon, Ralph Tarraf, who said he held "good and constructive" talks with his host.
In remarks to reporters following the meeting, the diplomat indicated that talks touched on an array of affairs, with priority given to the economic crisis sweeping the country. Within this frame, he highlighted the necessity to begin negotiations with the International Monetary Fund.
Tarraf also added that he and Mikati dwelt on the importance of holding the elections on their scheduled date, in addition to affairs relevant to the electricity sector.
Mikati later met with Russian Ambassador to Lebanon, Alexander Rudakov, who conveyed to his host the felicitations of Russia's Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin on the formation of the Lebanese government.
The diplomat told reporters that talks with the Prime Minister touched on the bilateral relations in all fields. "We are aware of the situation in Lebanon, and Russia is ready to develop the ongoing cooperation and to offer the required aids to Lebanon."
Separately, Mikati received UNIFIL Commander Major General Stefano Del Col.
